Default With Vietnam Veterans it is obvious that Factions sucks.

Hi all,

[sarcasm]
I am playing GW for 10 years now and wanted to tell my opinion and some suggestions about how to improve factions. I am very veteran and have received Purple Heart and other decorations.

1. Gameplay is bad and not challenging: Quests are boring and very easy and they are FedEx we just have to run to people.

Remedy: add some new beatiful challenging quests, where instead of killing/delivering we have to flirt some girls or boys (for my girlfriend who also plays, though she 's only been playing 7 years).

2. The skills are very difficult to obtain, we get skillpoints from those stupid quests but not enough gold. I have already spent 3 billions of gold during my time to obtain the absolutely necessary things for a basic gameplay (FoW armor, sundering mods, chaos axe of garbage, Storm bow of crap, HoD swords, fellblades etc) so I am totally broke, and noone from Anet came to my house or gave me at least a phonecall to say "hey man don't spend 200k gold on 1 item, you might wanna do something in the future".

Remedy: Quests should be able to complete at the NPC, and give sufficient gold for the skill purchase. Dialog would be like: "Hello I am Shun Tzun the skill giver, do you mind clicking on me again? Rewards: 15.000 experience, 1 skill point, 2k gold" we accept then click again and get the reward. This quest should also be repeatable.

3. It's very difficult to get those faction points, there should be one quest like the one described above but with faction reward. Would also be a good idea if the same quest could give exp+skill points+ faction points+ gold and be a clickable quest. This way I can get basic equipment like 15k luxon/kurzick armor in 1 day, now im trying and i need like 1 week to get it, which is plain outrageous.

4. Titles should be able to purchase at the trader: anyway since we have already ebay, "fame farming" services, "runner academies" and the likes, why not make everything available at the NPCs. The ultimate end-game pleasure as I see is to repeat the exact same thing millions of times while winning ingame gold from people.

5. All cities should be unlocked upon character creation and all missions completed with bonus, for Cantha that is the 2 swords and the other thingo in the middle. Thanx a lot.

6. Add "ftw" in everything we type so that we don't have to type it ourselves. This is to show that we are cool.

7. I have 6 accounts full of HoD swords and 10/10 sundering mods, which now , due to your stupid game changes, doesn't worth anything. I want Geil Graee or whatever her name is to come online and trade me all this garbage that i worked so hard for and give me 20k pieces of jade and 20k pieces of amber. After that, amber and jade should no more be obtainable in game, so that i can sell mine.

8. I need gold but farming sucks and my 55 monk doesn't work in many places. Someone from Anet should give me a farming build that works in anyplace and can clear any area in less than 10 min. Thanx again.

9. If anyone has anything more to add, please tell i know there's a lot of things needing fixing in this game.

If A-Net really cared, they would let us pay for monthly service.

Or, they would have a link to E-Bay, so we could just buy not only gold, but faction as well.

"With Vietnam Veterans it is obvious that Factions sucks."

Though I appreciate the humor in this thread, the actual thread title is a bit offensive. My father served 4 years there, has a Purple Heart, and I don't think gives a hoot about Guild Wars Factions, Guild Wars, this Forum, or so on and so forth. He still can't talk about some of things that happened there... and my father is 60 years old.

Anyways, try to keep in mind that certain things like that can be taken offensively. Its alot like tossing out... "Arguing on the Internet is alot the like the Special Olympics, win or lose you're still a retard." Normally, its after that line is typed out that you find out there brother, sister, cousin, father, mother, dog, cat, rat, or some distant vague relation has a learning deficit.

Hmm I dont see anything offensive or demeaning to Vietnam Vet in this thread. Maybe my comment about the landmines could be offensive. If so, let me know and I'll delete it. Otherwise, I dont see anything that was offensive.

Hello Argen,

Title changed. Thanks for pointing that out, although as others already noted, there was nothing in the text in connection to vietnam veterans (or any veteran of a war). The point of the reference (in the title only) was to parody the use of the word "veteran" in connection to a game that's 1 year old, adding a bit for beta testers.

So is the use of purple heart. My point essentially was to keep the word "veteran" for more serious things.

Anyway title is changed and I apologise if you found it offensive, in fact it was meant to be anything but that.

Regards,

mtm

Edit: Unfortunately editing topic title doesn't work. I assume a mod could do it, and is welcome to do so.

Please don't make a humoristic thread into an argument that could offend people. There's better places to discuss war consequences. And anyway, I don't see how someone who was obliged to fight a war and got lifetime marks from it is responsible for political choices at that time. The war was not a public vote and people from US who fought on it weren't given much of a choice. That being said, please avoid arguing about this, you can make another off topic for it if you think you should.

Thanks mtm for changing the title and cutting off the political conversation before it raises its ugly head.

Like I said before, I found this humorous... just the title kinda made me twitch.

I had no idea something like this would bother me but it did, and you went the extra mile in smoothing my ruffled feathers... so thanks again.

Argen, just a few quick things, because I believe you are reading this wrong.

Quote:
"With Vietnam Veterans it is obvious that Factions sucks."
I believe this is in reference to the "With veteran players it is apparent that Factions is a failure." thread.

The "Vietnam" part was just a reference since "Vietnam Vets" are the most common reference to Vets (at least in areas I've paid attention to). He could have easily said Iraq, Germany, or Korea, etc.

Now I realize how some persons are extremely sensative on said subject, so read this carefully please.

He didn't make any offensive remarks about Vietnam, Vietnam Vets or the military. He did say he had a purple heart, which could be construed as perhaps offensive (i.e. he didn't earn it, yet he says he has it.) Though its nothing different than what you see in satyrs of news reports, movies, etc.

Making a reference to a country, a war, or an era is not automatically offensive. If you are perhaps extra sensative to said subject because of what your father expereienced, then I can understand how you might construe even the mention of a country, war or time period as offensive. Although I can't agree with your feelings on the subject, as those three subjects are commonly referanced in daily lives.

Note: If it becomes a negative referance, then yes, I agree it is offensive.

In your example you have a negative connotation of "retard." I agree said example then would be offensive ONLY because of the "retard" comment. But you'll notice in the OP's post there is no negative ussage, just the refereance of a country, war or time period.

---

And just for the record. I served in Iraq and my father served in Korea.
